The Den:

Our last week before the summer holidays begin! We wanted to take this opportunity to say it has been such a pleasure working with your children this term. Each child has made so much progress and we so proud of them ⭐️

Characteristics of effective learning:

We have continued our theme of dinosaurs, this week exploring them in gloop and play-dough!

We made play-dough with the children, they were very eager to get involved. They listened carefully to my instructions and helped to pour the ingredients in the bowl. They each waited so patiently for their turn to mix the mixture, needing a little assistance to help stir. Once it was ready, they used a range of play-dough tools to roll and manipulate the dough. Each child used the dough in different ways, some squeezing it in their hands while others tore small pieces off. We then added the dinosaurs and modelled stomping them in the dough, looking at the marks left behind. We sang some dinosaur related songs as they played which they enjoyed and copied some of the words too.

We heard some lovely language from them like “squeeze, dinosaur, poke” and “roll”.

Kalma baby yoga:

Hayley conducted her final Kalma baby yoga session with us this academic year. Over the past term, the children’s confidence has grown so much as they participate in new activities and learn new songs. This week, Hayley used pom-poms and played parachute games with the children which they enjoyed. As always, the bubble machine remained the children’s favourite!

Parent as partners:

If you have any holiday’s or days out planned throughout the 6 weeks, please share them with us via parent observation- we love seeing what the children get up to!

Staffing updates:

Anna is on annual leave Friday and next week.

September staffing updates:

In September, there will be some slight staffing changes. Holly will be moving to The Discovery Hub and working term-time only. Chloe Hunter will be joining us in September and take over Holly’s role in The Den. Laney has also been taken on to complete her level 3 here with us, so will continue working in The Den throughout her level 3 apprenticeship.
