2-3: The Discovery Hub

Here we are the last week of the Summer Term. We are so proud of the children with the progress they have made across this term and across the whole school year!

I would like to say it has been wonderful to see the progress and the achievements the children have made this year as I joined the Discovery Hub and I cannot wait to see how this will continue with the children in the Discovery Hub and the Investigation Hub! I know I can speak on behalf of all the staff we are so proud of all of the children and for the children moving to the Investigation Hub we will be looking out for you walking past the windows to say hello!

Playing and Exploring

This week we have reflected on favourite rhymes and stories we have visited across the year and the children have been so engaged. It is wonderful to see how they can remember well known stories such as The Three Little Pigs, The Hungry Caterpillar and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. This has been reflected in explorations in play as the children have used resources to “trip trap” over the bridges they have created and used blocks in the garden to create a brick house to try to “blow your house down”.

Outdoor Learning

As we have seen over the last few weeks, the outdoor environments are very popular as the children are keen to explore. This week, we have had the spray bottles in the garden where the children have been using their fine motor skills to pull the leaver to squirt the water. The children have explored using the bottles to create marks on the walls and help to wash the windows. Some of the children have explored using the brushes and water to follow and wash away chalk marks that have been previously made.

Staffing Updates

Emma and Sharon will be off during the next six weeks. Staff working in the Discovery Hub will keep you updated across the next six weeks of when they are on annual leave.

September Staffing Updates

In September, there are some changes to the staff team in the Discovery Hub:

  • Dianne and Sakar will be working with the Deckham team.
  • Sharon will be moving downstairs to the Investigation Hub with the children.
  • Holly will be moving from the Den to the Discovery Hub working term time.
  • We are pleased to welcome Lucy to our team in September as she joins the Discovery Hub.

Parents as Partners

We would love to see observations from home across the holidays and summer period, as the children are always so keen to share with staff. It will be a lovely experience to share with the children’s new key workers as well.

Please can we ask if your child is returning to the Nursery in September please can you bring your Parent Declaration as soon as possible. Any questions please speak with Kelly or Grace.

For the children accessing Term Time, today is our last day as we break up for the Summer Holidays and return on Wednesday 2nd September.

We wish you a lovely summer and we look forward to seeing everyone in September.

For the children who are moving on to the next part of their journey, we wish you all the best and know you will do amazing in the next part of your learning journey!

Many thanks

Nursery Team
