The Nest/The Den

The Nest and Den children have been joined together this week and they have enjoyed spending time together.

Our recent walk to the community gardens, with the children in buggies, was a delightful experience. The children showed great interest in observing the various leaves and flowers. Their excitement was particularly noticeable, expressed through shrieks of joy, when traversing the uneven sections of the path.

The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the large sandpit in the Investigation Hub’s garden. They sprinkled sand into tubs with their hands, further investigating the textures. Some children stomped their feet, leaving footprints in the sand and were fascinated by the prints they created.

Physical Development

Children actively engaged in exploring ice. Some children sat within the tray containing the ice, while others positioned themselves on the outer edge, pointing at the ice with interest. Demonstrating developing fine motor skills, the children utilised spoons to scoop ice from the tray and transferred it into a separate bowl. Sustained engagement was observed, with the children spending a considerable amount of time engrossed in the ice activity. Our younger children participated in sensory exploration by banging metal objects together, producing a variety of sounds.

The children showed great engagement and interest in our flower themed sensory tray. They explored different objects such as lentils, artificial flowers and wooden scoops. The children used good fine motor skills to pick up the wooden spoon and moved it in and out of the bowl. The children were very expressive during this activity, showing their excitement through facial expressions and gestures with smiling, laughing and pointing.

Staffing Update:

We are delighted to announce that Rachel will be joining the Nest team starting this September.

We are all incredibly excited for Rachel to become a part of our team and contribute to our future successes. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to her.
