The Nest:
This week has been delightful for our children, as the mornings have offered lovely weather opportunities for them to explore the Blossom Garden. With some of our children preparing to move to The Den, they have been visiting and are adapting to their new environment very well.
Communication and Language:
The children have enjoyed continuing to explore the dinosaur book we have continued reading it to them this week. As we moved the interactive parts and produced various sounds, the children listened intently, paying close attention to the noises we created. Some of them softly whispered ‘ba be’ and ‘ooo.’ They also explored creating different sounds and facial expressions. We have read a variety of storybooks to model vocabulary. During these interactions, many of the children engage with the staff using babbling sounds. The children took pleasure in exploring different picture books while babbling and pointing to the illustrations.
Physical Development:
This week, we continued to support our children through a play dough activity that incorporated natural items like wooden tools and mark-making stampers. The children demonstrated control as they manipulated the play dough, by rubbing it between their hands and fingers to explore its texture. Using fine motor skills they were able to explore grasping various tools to press into the dough and using a rolling pin. The children also explored creating beautiful exploratory marks on the tuff tray with chalk, utilising a whole hand grasp.
In the garden, it has been lovely to observe the children developing their confidence to balance and walk on their own between the areas.
Baby Yoga:
On Tuesday afternoon, we had the pleasure of welcoming Hayley from Kalma Baby Yoga for the final session of the year. She conducted a wonderfully soothing session with the children, featuring parachute games, beautiful calming songs accompanied by colourful scarves, and bubbles. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
