The Den:

Wow what a lovely week it’s been in the den this week, we have had some lovely weather and the children have really enjoyed time outdoors when the garden has been shaded from the sunshine!

Characteristics of learning:

The children have all really enjoyed outdoor play this week with the warm weather! They have enjoyed painting with paint brushes and water to create marks on the walls, this also helped to cool the children down, and promoting and encourages the children to use their fine motor skills. All of the children were able to guide the brushes along the walls to create the marks.

We have also had some little visitors in nursery this week that the children were very excited to explore and look closer at. The children were very excited to meet them, we introduced the children to the caterpillars at group time, following along from this we also then read ‘The hungry caterpillar’ at group time to further support learning and understanding. The Children were all very excited and engaged fully in the group time. We talked about the process of the caterpillars turning into butterfly’s and used some props to assist understanding, such as the hungry caterpillar book and some butterfly figures.

Parents as partners:

Can we also just remind parents/carers that all children should have an all day suncream applied before they attend nursery please, if you forget parents will be asked to apply our nursery suncream before coming in for the session. Also if you child had not already brought a sun hat in to nursery can parents please provide one, labelled with the child’s name thank you.

Don’t forget tomorrow the 26th of June, nursery will be closed to all children for staff training day.

We hope everyone has a lovely weekend off and enjoys the sunshine we will see you all next week!

The nursery team.
