The Den:
Physical development:
This week, we have been exploring colourful foam soap in the tray. The children have had lots of fun getting super messy with the foam and manipulating it in their hands. We used pink and blue foam, when they mixed together they created purple. This was a great way to incorporate early colour identification with some children being able to identify the different colours.
This was a great way to add lots of new words to the children’s vocabulary like “squash, squeeze, mix”.
Communication and language:
Singing time is always a favourite with the children and this week, we added some finger puppets as props to engage the children. Not only are finger puppets good for fine motor skill development, they are also a great visual prop to help children’s language skills as they link the word to the item. We sang a variety of songs linking to the puppets and the children sat for extended periods of time, very engaged.
Parents as partners:
Next week, we will be starting our autumn exploration in The Den, with a range of autumnal themed activities. We have found a great Autumn song which we will be singing with the children. I have attached a link so you can learn the lyrics at home too!
