The Den:
We have had a great first week in December in The Den! The children have enjoyed participating in some festive activities and dancing to Christmas songs.
Playing and exploring:
The children have enjoyed playing with the gloop this week as or main focused activity. We added some trains and wooden track pieces so the children could roll them in the gloop and look at the marks left behind. The children loved getting messy and used good fine motor skills to scoop the gloop. They loved seeing the gloop change texture in their hands and enjoyed seeing it flow through their fingers.
We have been reading some festive ‘that’s not my’ books to the children containing arctic animals and festive characters like Santa. They really enjoyed looking at the characters and feeling the textured pages.
During our daily group times, we have been singing some Christmas songs with the children like ‘Santa got stuck up the chimney’, ‘Rudolph the red nosed reindeer’ and ‘jingle bells.’ We have been thrilled with the children’s ability to join in with some new words and actions to the songs. The addition of some bells was a great way to keep the children engaged and make it more fun!
