The Nest

The children have had a lovely week in exploring a range of sensory based activities using different tools and objects.

Characteristics of affective Learning:

The children have experimented with play dough using pasta, lolly pop sticks and play dough moulds. The children used their hands to pat the play dough saying “Pa pa pa”. The children demonstrated good use of their fine motor skills, as they placed the pasta and lolly pop sticks into the play dough using their pincer grasp. The children spent a considerable amount of time exploring the play dough, as they were fully engaged in what they were doing.

Communication and Language

The children have explored the autumn sensory tray with fabric leaves, soft pumpkins and woodland creatures. The children showed good knowledge of knowing the animals names and sounds. The children were hiding the animals under the leaves and were excited to find them. We could see the anticipation in the children’s faces when asked “Where is the…hiding? The children let the leaves fall from a height watching them fall to the ground saying “Wee”.

Physical Development

The children have enjoyed painting with cars creating different marks moving the cars in the paint. The children showed good control showing their enjoyment, as they moved the cars around the paper. Some of the older children were saying “beep beep” whilst making some lovely tracks on the paper. The children spent some time exploring this activity, as they were fully engaged in what they were doing. There was lots of lovely interactions between the children, as they were sharing the cars and smiling at each other.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
