The Nest
What a fun week in the nest it has been with lots of water play, under the sea sensory tray and lovely interactions coming from the children.
Characteristics of Effective Learning
Children have been actively exploring objects through various actions including rolling, stacking, and shaking. Their engagement demonstrates a strong grasp of object manipulation and movement.
Communication and Language
The children were all sat around the “Under the Sea” sensory tray singing different sea creature related songs such as “I had a little turtle”, ” 1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive”. The children did really well at joining in with the different actions. There were some lovely interactions observed between the children with lots of smiling an babbling. The children enjoy the one on one time with the adult, as they are engaged and focused.
During small group time, the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring a variety of interactive books, including pop-up and flip-flap designs. Their intense focus and engagement were evident as they observed the pictures and followed along with the stories.
Physical Development
Children engaged in water play, exploring with large hand movements that created splashing. They moved objects back and forth, observing them float, and showed fascination by intently watching and pointing. The children remained fully engaged during their extended exploration of the water.
