The Nest

Playing and Exploring/Active Learning

The children were very excited seeing the ducklings again this week, as they got to stroke and hold them. There was some lovely gentle interactions between the children and ducklings, as they were so gentle and accepting of the ducklings being in their space.

Communication and Language

The children have engaged in looking at different interactive books that have flaps, touch and feel pictures. The children learned some new words, such as; train, choo choo, boat, water, balloon.. The children imitated some of the words and identifying certain words alongside with the objects.

During snack time the children have been learning some makaton signs for “More”, “Please” and “Thank you”.

Physical Development

The children were eager to see the water and boats, as they all came straight over to investigate. I sang “Row row row your boat” to the children, as they moved the boats back and forth smiling and laughing. The children showed good control in moving the boats and stacking cups through the water. The children demonstrated a good sense of will and determination in what they set out to achieve.

The children explored the sand by moving the cars creating some track marks. The children moved the cars back and forth saying “Beep beep”. The children were so proud of their marks, as they were pointing at them clapping. The children showed some lovely interactions towards each other, as there were lots of sharing and enjoyment.

Next week the nest children will be in the den, if parents could please drop off in the den. Thank you

Some of our children have been doing transition visits in the den. They have been doing very well and adapting to their new environment.
