The Nest
Characteristics of Effective Learning
Our focused song has been “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” The children have explored a range of activities that has supported their physical development, using their whole body in different ways.
Physical Development
The children explored the water, creating splashes with their hands. Some children expressed their excitement through hand and foot movement. The children showed lovely interactions by smiling and babbling.
The children have been working on developing their gross motor development by using a climbing structure to rock or stand. The children were using their whole body to move the frame back and forth creating a rocking motion. They showed good control in maintaining their balance.
Communication and Language
The children listened intently as we read different board books with interactive parts. The children were pointing at different pictures within the books creating different babble sounds. The children sat for a period of time where they were engaged in looking at the different pictures.
The children have explored the boat sensory tray with blue shredded paper and sensory mats. They looked at the mats, focusing on the pattern. The children felt the texture of the paper, scrunching it in their hands.
