Active Learning

This week the children have continued to explore the cardboard boxes, lots of children have enjoyed climbing inside and using the boxes as part of imaginative play experience’s. To help extend learning other resources such as material have been introduced into the learning environment, this was also popular with children wearing them as capes and placing them inside the boxes before climbing in themselves. Cardboard boxes have also been used in the creative area as junk modelling creations. During this activity the children painted and glued tissue paper onto the boxes to help decorate them before using them within play.

This week the children have also been showing lots of interest in the farm yard animals, the children have been using the animals to recall stories, make animal sounds and interact with each other while pretending to be animals. To help extend learning natural resources such as straw, sticks, pine cones and leaves was added into the small world area to help extend learning while building on prior learnt knowledge. 🐷 🐮 🐥

To celebrate the end of term and Easter fast approaching the children have enjoyed making little cakes to take home. During this activity the children mixed and spooned the chocolate into the muffin cases while enjoying a little taste of chocolate 🍫😂.

Outdoor Learning

In the outdoor environment the children have enjoying playing outdoors in the new exciting side garden, this has been a lovely experience for all children as they learn how to effectively use the new resources. As part of a guided activity the children have been using natural resources to mix and create marks using water. This activity helps to inspire creativity while developing important physical fine gross motor skills.

This week the children have also enjoyed exploring the beach area in the large garden, during this activity the children have enjoyed emptying and filling containers while learning key vocabulary such as empty and full. In the lower garden the children have continued to explore cardboard boxes, to extend learning loose parts such as crates and tires have been incorporated into the activity with some children using them to make obstacles and pretending to drive cars. 🚙
