The Den

Our first week back after the Easter half term! A very busy week in the den filled with yoga sessions, a stay and play and lots of outdoor fun. We have also been focusing on farm animals and vehicles.

Playing and exploring

We were very kindly visited by Faye from Kalma baby yoga on Monday who conducted a short session with the children. They all had lots of fun joining in with singing, dancing and lots of action songs. Faye will be returning in the upcoming weeks and will be continuing sessions on a Monday afternoon for children throughout the nursery.

Communication and Language

We have been looking at farm animals this week as we follow our children’s interest in them. We have noticed over the weeks the children’s knowledge of them has blossomed as they are able to identify most of them and their sounds. The children have loved participating in small group puppet activities, furthering their vocabulary and listening/ attention skills. We have been encouraging the children to use makaton signs for them which they have picked up really well!

Physical Development

We have been spending lots of time in the sun this week as we have had amazing weather. The children have enjoyed lots of activities like water painting and mark making with vehicles and dinosaurs. The climbing frame has been a hit as the children showcase amazing physical skills as they crawl through and pull themselves up. The children have enjoyed snack time outside too!

Parent Partnerships

It was amazing to see so many children and parents attend our stay and play on Tuesday! The children had so much fun participating in indoor and outdoor activities and it’s always lovely to catch up with you all.

Song of the week

We are continuing exploring farm animals next week. If you have any photographs of your child at the farm or with animals please send them via parent observation. These will be printed and used in the small world area.

Staffing update

During the summer term we are very lucky to be welcoming Hayley and Emma to the Discovery Hub team. They are working with us on a project linked to the role of a teacher in 2 year old provision. Hayley and Emma will not have a key person role and will be leading and developing our approach to all things ‘two’ alongside our wonderful Hilary. They are looking forward to getting to know our children and families over the coming weeks so do say hello and have a quick chat if you spot them around the centre!

Just a reminder nursery is closed on Monday 5th May for Bank Holiday and will reopen in Tuesday 6th May

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
