The Den:

We have welcomed some of the transitioning children from The Nest for their first week in The Den. They have done so well and thoroughly enjoyed their time with us. We have been busy this week with a range of activities like play-dough, shredded paper and vehicle exploration.

Playing and exploring:

We explored shredded paper this week as our main activity. The children enjoyed immersing themselves in the paper and throwing it in the air. The children enjoyed filling and emptying metal containers with the paper. We added lots of new words to their vocabulary like “sprinkle, pour” and “throw”. The children absolutely loved this and stood engaged for some time.

We continued exploring play-dough this week too! We used a variety of textured rollers and shaped cutters to further develop fine motor movements. The youngest children needed some support to roll the dough with the rollers, but after time, they were able to have a go independently. We supported the children with the cutters snd asked them to identify some of the shapes. Some of the children spoke “star, flower” and “tree” as they selected different ones out of the pot.

Staffing updates:

Our lovely receptionist Grace will be leaving us this week as she is moving to a new school in Gateshead. Grace will be missed by us all but we’re really excited for her next venture! You may see some different faces on the reception desk alongside Janine.

Parents as partners:

I have attached a photo with all our upcoming events on the lead up to Christmas.
