Playing and Exploring
It has been a quieter week in nursery, giving the children lots of opportunities to enjoy focused activities and small-group experiences.
At the start of the week, the children helped us make our own playdough! They enjoyed pouring and stirring the ingredients before choosing to make it orange for Halloween. Once the playdough was ready, the children used the pumpkin moulds to make their own cupcakes and pumpkin pies. Using their imagination as they explored the dough. We also explored our spooky water tray, filled with spiders and bugs. The children used nets to scoop them up, seeing how many they could catch! π·οΈ
Some children showed off their wonderful imaginations as they worked together to build a Halloween house using the blocks. They added pumpkins and leaves to decorate their creation, turning it into a spooky Halloween house. We were so impressed with their creativity! π»
Creative Thinking Critically
The children have enjoyed getting creative with autumn leaves this week. Some chose to stick their leaves onto paper to create their own leaf pictures, while others enjoyed drawing around them. These activities provided lovely opportunities to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. π π
We have also been busy with lots of Halloween-themed activities, creating decorations such as bats and pumpkins. The children explored a variety of materials to decorate their pictures and used stickers to add features and bring their creations to life. We have loved seeing their individual ideas and designs! π¦π
We have made the most of our pumpkins in nursery. The children have enjoyed painting them different colours, then later in the week, we cut the pumpkin open for everyone to see what was inside! The children loved scooping out the contents of the pumpkin and exploring the texture.
Outdoor Learning
We have enjoyed making the most of the autumn weather in our garden this week. The children went on a leaf hunt, collecting fallen leaves and helping to gather them into piles before brushing them away. We also talked about the different sizes of the leaves, encouraging the children to notice and compare what they had found.
The children also took part in a pumpkin hunt around the garden. They loved searching for the hidden pumpkins and were so excited whenever they discovered one! π
Parents as Partners
A little reminder that nursery will reopen for term time children on Monday 2nd November following the half-term break.
We would love to see what you have been getting up to over the holidays! Please feel free to share your photos and adventures with us on Famly. We look forward to seeing them!
Many thanks,
