Week Commencing 28th September 2026

The Nest

On Tuesday 29th September, we celebrated World Heart Day by providing a variety of activities that promoted this. The children explored play dough with heart shaped cutters and lollipop sticks and heart themed tuff tray.

Physical Development:

When exploring the Playdough some children pressed their hands into the dough, exploring its textures. They then picked up the lollipop sticks and heart cutters, demonstrating good fine motor skills through their whole-hand grasp. They watched intently, observing each others movements. The children engaged in cooperative parallel play, using focused attention on the fine motor activity while working in close proximity. The children were fully focused and engaged in exploring the play dough for a considerable amount of time. Lovely interactions were observed, including the sharing of resources and excited babble sounds.

A heart-themed tuff tray was provided for the children to explore and investigate. They displayed good control while grasping the heart objects and materials, engaging in tactile exploration. They enjoyed the diverse textures with their hands, feet, and mouth. The heart-shaped lights captivated the children, who enjoyed observing them closely. Throughout their play, children vocalised their enjoyment through delightful sounds and babbling. Notable positive interactions were observed among the children, including the sharing of resources and smiling.

Communication and Language:

We enjoyed the song “Shaky Shaky” as the children participated in a small group time. They were following the different actions of shaking the bottles and anticipated when the song came to “Put it on your……..” The children followed along with the actions very well. They showed a lot excitement on their faces and created different babble sounds.

The children were fascinated with the light projector that played music and projected different images onto the wall. They watched intently as the pictures moved around the walls. There was lots of pointing and babble sounds created, showing their engagement and happiness

Parent Partnerships

As the weather changes and gets cooler, could we please ask that your child comes to nursery dressed for the weather and has appropriate clothing to access the garden. If your child is non-mobile you may like to send an all in one puddlesuit to keep them warmer & dry as they explore the garden. Please speak to a member of the team if you would like to check your child’s basket to see if you need to update the spare clothes we have for them now the season are changing.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
