The Den:

We have had another fun-filled week in The Den as we continue our focus on Autumn! We have been looking at autumnal colours and focusing on colour mixing!

Characteristics of effective learning:

This week while in the garden, we collected some leaves and sticks. The children were very keen to get involved and followed instructions well, putting the leaves into the bowl. This was a great opportunity to talk about the different colours of leaves we collected. Some were orange, red, brown and some were even lots of different colours. This prompted us to explore colour further and use them to paint with.

The children sat well and used the materials to paint with. We used vocabulary like “dab dab, brush” and “swishy swashy” as the children painted. The colours then began to mix together, which prompted a lovely conversation around colour mixing and how 2 colours mixed together created a new colour!

Parents as partners:

We wanted so share an autumnal song you can sing at home with your child!
