The Nest

We have welcomed some new children who have joined us this week in the Nest. Some have started and others are on transition visits ready to start in a couple of weeks.

Characteristics of Effective Learning

The children have been experimenting with different building resources, whilst demonstrating good control in balancing, indicating developing their fine motor skills and spatial awareness. Once the tower was a certain height the children knocked it down saying “uh oh”. You could see the anticipation in the children’s faces when knocking the tower down. They showed lovely interactions towards each other with lots of laughter and engagement.

Physical Development

The children thoroughly enjoyed the frog tuff tray, which had coloured rice, flowers, lily pads and sticks. During our singing of “Speckle Frog” and “Little Green Frog,” The children actively participated by clapping their hands and making “mmm mmm” sounds. They grabbed handfuls of rice, allowing it to sprinkle from a height and observing it’s decent back into the tray.

While the sun made an appearance, we took the opportunity to get the children some fresh air🌤️The children soaked in all the different sensory opportunities around them as we explored the garden.

Communication and Language

We sat in in a small group singing child’s name ” ……..Where are you? ” The children responded by lifting the voile off their faces smiling and laughing. The children showed good turn taking waiting for their turn. When it came their turn again, they reached for the foil and we repeated the process. This demonstrated their enjoyment of the song and their ability to express their preferences.
