The Nest

We have sung a range of songs this week in relation to our focus on transport vehicles. Some of these include ‘The wheels on the bus’, ‘I’m driving in my car’ and ‘row, row, row your boat’.

Characteristics of Effective Learning

The children had a lovely time painting with cars, moving them in the paint and creating some marks. They enjoyed moving the cars back and forth continuously around the paper. As they did this, the children were pointing at the marks they had created. They placed their hands into the tray, moving the paint around to feel the texture.

Communication and Language

The children sat well during our small group time. We looked through different books which had flaps and interactive parts. There was lots of turn taking between the children, watching each other lift the flap to find the picture. They showed some lovely interactions towards each other- lots of smiling and enjoyment as we looked through different books.

Physical Development

Following our focus on vehicles this week, the children engaged in a ‘car wash’ activity in the water tray. The children enjoyed experimenting with bubbled water, sponges and cars where they squeezed the sponge for the water to come out. The children were fascinated where the water was coming from. Mercy demonstrated to the children how we wash the cars. They then started washing the cars, showing good control in their hand movements. The children used their hands to splash in the water, showing lots of enjoyment and engagement.

The children also had a wonderful time going on a walk in the buggies to the community garden and around the bottom garden. They were pointing at the snow, taking it all in!

Parent Partnerships

Our song of the week for the coming week is going to be “5 Little Ducks”.
