The Den:
Another busy week in The Den, with a focus on vehicles. We created a ‘car wash’ with foam and water in the tray which the children loved!
The children loved exploring the water activity this week with different vehicles. We also placed some foam soap and small sponges so the children could wash the cars. The children really enjoyed splashing around in the coloured water and feeling all the different textures. We encouraged the children to wash the cars and demonstrated this to them. They used good fine motor skills to grip the sponge then good control to wash the cars. The children really enjoyed the sensory experience of the sponge- squeezing it tight in their hands and watching all the water flow out.
The children were able to copy new vocabulary like “squeeze, wash” and “splash”. This was a great way to support imaginative play skills with some of our older children.
Outdoor learning:
With the cold weather fast approaching, we decided to take the children out for a walk in the buggies through the snow. We wrapped the children up in warm coats and hats and took them for a walk across to the community centre gardens, then the big garden in our 3-5 outdoor space. We talked lots about the changes in weather and the snow we could see on the floor. Mercy threw snow in the air and the children watched as it fell back down. We picked up handfuls of snow and brought it to the children so they could have a feel.
Parents as partners:
Reminder we have our ‘seasonal change’ stay and play Thursday 27th November. We would love to see you there for a morning of fun-filled activities!
