The Den:
What a busy first week of term we have had in The Den! Just wanted to say a massive well done to all the children in for how well they have settled into the first week back!
Characteristics of affective learning:
We have been exploring messy play opportunities this week with gloop! The children were fascinated by the changing texture and enjoyed getting super messy as they manipulate the gloop. We added some metal spoons so the children could scoop and pour the gloop. We are so pleased some of the children who don’t usually like messy things on their hands had a good go! This was also a great opportunity to incorporate new vocabulary like “sticky, gloopy, scoop” and “pour”.
Group singing time continues to be a hit for our children! The sustained shared focus we see every morning from the children as they sit for extended time periods is amazing!
This week, the children have especially liked the song ‘tiny Tim’ we used real bubbles to aid the song and the children enjoyed popping them with their fingers.
Outdoor learning:
Our new garden equipment has been delivered and will be getting put up in the upcoming weeks! We’re really excited to showcase the new equipment to the children and experiment with new learning opportunities. This week, we have had lots of leaves begin to fall in the garden. This prompted a lovely learning opportunity where we talked about the differences in size, shape and colour.
“wow a big leaf… can you show me big with your arms?”
“Which one is a little leaf?”
“Can you feel the leaf… it’s bumpy!”
Parents as partners:
Due to limited peg space, can we please ask bags are not brought to nursery. Each child has a named nappy basket in the bathroom where we can store nappies, wipes and spare clothes. Staff will notify you if your child’s basket needs replenished.
Staffing updates:
Our apprentice Laney did a NASEN training course earlier this week all about supporting children with SEN. She really enjoyed the training and has learnt some useful information which will share with the team.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
