Playing and Exploring/Active Learning

The children have been experimenting using different tools to explore the play dough, using their hands to squeeze and feel the texture. The children grasped the tools using their whole hand, creating patterns in the play dough. The children spent a considerable amount of time exploring the play dough, as they were fully engaged in what they were doing.

Communication and Language

The Nest children have enjoyed activities that have supported continuous use of their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. The children have been introduced to some new language, such as ; squeeze, pat, roll, stretch, fill, pour, sprinkle. The older children demonstrated good understanding when trying repeat the word back along with the action.

Physical Development

The children enjoyed using textured tools to create marks and patterns in the sand. The children were holding the tools using their whole hand grasp and placing them in the sand. The children showed good control in moving the tools around the sand further developing their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills.

The children explored paint using textured sponges, as they created different marks. The children touched the paint using their fingers moving it around the paper, as they were experimenting with different textures.

The children explored sand with wooden objects to fill and pour. The children showed good control in scooping the sand up with the spoon and placing it into the bowl, demonstrating their happiness and accomplishments. The children demonstrated good use of their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.
