The Den:
This week in The Den, we have continued to explore jungle animals as it is such a big interest for the children. Furthermore, we have also been focusing on some fine and gross motor skills this week as the children focus on building towers and painting some wonderful creations.
Characteristics of effective learning:
The children have experimented with paint using rollers and paint brushes in exploring making marks. The children showed good control in moving the paint around the paper, further developing their fine motor skills. There was some lovely interactions between the children, as there was lots of laughter and enjoyment.
Physical development:
The children have enjoyed participating in some fine and gross motor activities this week.We looked at building towers out of a range of shapes where the children got more excited as the tower grew higher and even more excited when the tower fell down! They have engaged in some slightly more physical activities like crawling through the tunnel where the children also gained understanding of taking turns. As well as this, the children have enjoyed painting on a large scale to help support their gross motor skills
Communication and language:
Following on from last week, we have continued to look at our jungle and Farm animals as it is always a favourite in The Den. Using a range of puppets during our group time has allowed the children to explore the animals in closer detail as we look at the signs, the noises they make and even some books which allow us to experience how they feel! By doing this the children have gained a larger understanding of our animals as they begin to communicate this back to us by signing Lion, Monkey , Pig and Cow.
