The Nest

Playing and Exploring/Active Learning

The children have enjoyed exploring the paint making marks with the jungle animals. The children were moving the animals around the paper, showing good control in creating their marks. The children spent a considerable amount of time exploring the paint, as they were engaged in what they were doing. The younger children were curious about the paint, as they were placing their whole hand into the paint to feel the texture.

The children explored gloop with jungle animals, as they used their hands to feel the texture. The children were letting the gloop drip from their fingers, expressing their curiosity. The chidlren were moving the animals around the gloop. The children spent a considerable amount of time investigating the gloop.

Communication and Language

The children have been looking through jungle theme books recognising the different animals.

The children enjoyed learning song of the week “Walking in the Jungle”, as they picked what animal they wanted from the bag. I sang the song and went through the actions and sounds, the children were able to follow along with the actions by patting their legs and making the sound of the animals. The children sat lovely during group time, as there was lots of lovely engagement and enjoyment.

Physical Development

The children were intrigued with building with cardboard boxes, demonstrating friendly interactions and shared attention. They worked together to build a towers, knocking it down with laughter and enjoyment.

The children have been exploring sensory mats, it encouraged them to use their senses to explore and interact with their environment.

Parent Partnerships

We have been learning about jungle animals this week, it would be lovely to see if your children has had any experiences at the zoo. If so can you please share those experiences by doing a parent observation if possible.
