The den:
We have had another busy week in the den as we continue our focus on farm animals and explore a textured sensory tray!
Characteristics of effective learning
The children really enjoyed exploring our textured sensory tray this week! The tray contained coloured tissue paper, feathers and mirrored sensory blocks. The children displayed good fine motor skills as they scrunched and ripped the paper. This was also a great opportunity to incorporate new language such as “rip, scrunch, squeeze” and “tickle”. Some of the children showcased fabulous colour identification skills as they identified colours such as red, blue and green. Most of the children were able to repeat back simple colours.
Physical development
The children have enjoyed exploring the outdoor area this week. They have enjoyed in particular the stepping stones! The children showed good gross motor skills and displayed good coordination as they attempted to navigate the stones- well done!
The children have of course enjoyed group time this week- in particular they have enjoyed ‘I had a little turtle’. This was a great opportunity to encourage the children to sign!
Staff updates
Anna is on annual leave next week and will return to work on Monday 12th of May.
