2-3: The Discovery Hub Sidney Grove
This week the children have enjoyed welcoming back all the children who have been on Easter break. We have also welcomed lots of new children who have been settling in this week. Thank you to all the parents who attended the stay and play earlier on this week, it was a pleasure to meet everyone and share in the children’s wonderful experiences.
Outdoor Environment
This week the children absolutely loved exploring our garden we took part in a bug hunt. On the bug hunt we found lots of flys 🪰, a spiders web 🕸️, and we discovered some woodlouse when we turned over our stepping stones. Some of the children were very brave and let the bugs crawl on their hands!
In the outdoor environment the children also enjoyed playing with soft balls, they used them to pass, kick and roll to each other. During this time the children practiced catching, throwing and sharing the resources. To extend learning we introduced tubes and guttering into the activity to explore different ways of moving.
Staffing updates:
During the summer term we are very lucky to be welcoming Hayley and Emma to the Discovery Hub team. They are working with us on a project linked to the role of a teacher in 2 year old provision. Hayley and Emma will not have a key person role and will be leading and developing our approach to all things ‘two’ alongside our wonderful Hilary. They are looking forward to getting to know our children and families over the coming weeks so do say hello and have a quick chat if you spot them around the centre!
Please can all children arrive at nursery wearing sun cream on hot days.
Thank you
